It’s terrifying, the thought of her out there alone, shaping her own life without me; and brilliant.

She was, the Doctor thought glumly, losing her touch.

It all started when a certain speedster with a fondness for red-and-yellow stumbled into the TARDIS. Well, she thought stumbled: ran. Superspeed. That should’ve tipped her off, really. It’s not that she has anything against humans with special abilities, quite brilliant, really, probably the result of some alien DNA down the line somewhere showing itself, but this?

This was ridiculous. Really, she didn’t think it was possible, running off and getting into trouble before she could even spit out the ‘D’ of ‘Don’t run off’. Which just goes to show, she thought glumly, no one listened to her anymore.

“Hey, Doc,” that speedster was saying now, “We gonna escape or are we gonna just lie around here until they come back with those acid vats again?”
