SWEET SIXTEEN!

For this occasion, the TARDIS ballroom is decked out with banners and all manner of things that are strangely appropriate and much better than anything the Doctor could come up with. (The TARDIS decorated it herself.) There's food everywhere, with a certain tilt towards strawberry-banana smoothies, bananas, and jelly babies, and those little finger foods on toothpicks. There's even a banner that says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on it, and "SWEET SIXTEEN". (The 'hundred' was tactfully left out.)

The birthday girl herself has a strawberry-banana smoothie nicked from one of the tables and is now eyeing the decorations with a certain amount of confusion.

It's possible somebody forgot her birthday. It's hard, what with all the time-traveling and relative timelines. Good thing the TARDIS is here to take care of it! :D

{Right, so, birthday party post! This is going to be a load of multi-fandom meta goodness, so don't worry if you're in a community Eleven's in or anything. Just show up and bring presents. The Doctor likes presents. :D}

The Doctor laughs at her, but it's a gentle laugh.

"I never could keep up with my age..." Slowly, he points up to the banner.

She follows his finger to the banner. "But I'm not-"
Beat.
"Ah." Ruefully, "I knew I felt different this morning."

Which, of course, makes him grin again.

"Congratulations." Then he hands over his carefully wrapped gift, which will turn out to be a
giant jelly baby
. The box was bigger on the inside.

Around its neck is an Escher-inspired scarf.

It's a gift! Which, obviously, makes the Doctor beam rather happily and wonder if she's meant to open it now or later.

...What does it matter, anyway? She gives the wrapping a tug.

The Doctor is rather glad that he'll have such a lovely smile. Keeping with the theme, and all.

"Do you need help?"

[identity profile] eleventh-doctor.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course not," she answers, going at the wrapping now with enthusiasm.

Right, so her face just squee'd at the jelly baby, even if it didn't quite reach vocal chords, because that would just be undignified.
And the scarf is definitely a good touch. She drapes it around her neck before going back to facially squeeing at the jelly baby.

Five beams at her again. Inwardly he might be going 'awww' a bit, except he doesn't do that, and certainly not at himself.

"You like them?"

[identity profile] eleventh-doctor.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
In response, the Doctor practically throws herself at himself in something that definitely wasn't a glomp, because that would just be undignified.

His eyes widen, and he might have laughed if the wind wasn't knocked from him. Instead he just awkwardly wraps his arms around her.

Hush, he's not that good at this sort of thing.

[identity profile] eleventh-doctor.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
She possibly should've taken that into account previously, but, well, at least he's making an effort.

Ah well. What's done is done. Can't turn back time and all that.
...Hah.
