who are you?

...I was going to work on an application today, but I didn't. So have the Giant Character Survey of Doom instead. (With pictures and youtube links and things!)

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
She’s about 5’9”, which is shorter than a lot of her incarnations but still of a respectable height. She has wacky Time Lord physiology and leads and extremely active life, thus the also v. skinny. But she’s pretty, so we can forgive her that.

2. How old is she?
She’s in her early 1600s. Which I picked partially because I really wanted to do a Sweet Sixteen (hundred) birthday party for her that one time, but it also makes sense in my head, so! Mostly she’ll say sixteen hundred or fifteen hundred or something, because she’s gotten over that middle age crisis thing Nine and Ten had. That said, knocking a few decades or even half a century off her age doesn’t really matter much either way, at this point.

3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch?
She carries herself like a Doctor, which is to say: very well.

4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Fit and healthy! Physically, she’s in her forties or something, probably. Claudia Black refuses to give out her birth year. And she runs A LOT but she also eats a lot of sweets, so it balances out eventually. Yeah.

5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Uh. Depends on the context. Occasionally, she’s a bit… well, manic and unpredictable. This isn’t surprising, because most Doctors are. But most of the time she just… moves. Wtf even is this question.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the
mirror?

Eleven is approx. the hottest thing in existence. This is because the devil sold his soul to her PB (Claudia Black) in order to preserve her beauty. Eleven is aware of this, but it’s not really the most important thing in the world, except to her vanity. But really? Pretty much all the Doctors considered themselves the hottest thing in existence, so.

7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Clear. I’m not going to say anything about skin tone, because I suck at skin tones. Luckily, I don’t think the Doctor pays much attention either, so. Moving on.

8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.
It is black, and pretty, and a bit wavy, and also a bit long. Also there’s a thing from a thing that I haven’t written yet that occurs somewhere towards the middle of - or possibly two thirds into, I haven’t decided - her regeneration that causes a bit of her hair to go white. Possibly the Master’s involved. BUT IT’S STILL REALLY PRETTY HAIR SO THAT’S OKAY.

9. What color are her eyes?
Grrrray? I am terrible with eye colours, so I’ll say gray and have done with it.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
I like her nose! It is an exceptional nose. Also everything below her neck, and above it. Those are noteworthy. Some bits more noteworthy than others (I think you know what I’m talking about).

11. What are her chief tension centers?
Hmmm. Jaw, I’d say? And shoulders.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?
*cracks knuckles* As you ought to know by now, the Doctors generally pick something they like and stick with that for the rest of their regenerative cycle. This is… not quite what Eleven does, but close. Her standard outfit generally consists of boots (black, extremely low-to-no heel), jeans (blue! But she might get crazy and wear black sometime), some kind of unremarkable solid-coloured shirt, a jacket (well-fitting), and a scarf of some kind.
History lesson: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u142/quodlibetarian/Stories/JulienCapmeil-0011.jpg was the first thing I envisioned a girl!Doctor as wearing, and that photoshoot was solely responsible for Saffron Burrows being a runner-up for Eleven’s PB.

13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?
Yes, and yes. Gotta be able to save the galaxy in these, don’t you know.

14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?
One of the things about Eleven is that she has to actually change her clothing style for some time periods/destinations. Prior to this, she fit under White Dude clausality, which meant that the Doctor could wander around in a leather jacket in the 1800s, but Rose had to change into a time-appropriate dress or she’d get the nickname of Barbarella for always and ever. And also possibly cause problems.

Which is to say: she can’t always wear what she wants (but if she tries sometimes, she can wear what she needs). Understandably, this is a point of annoyance to her, especially since she has to transfer her things around from jackets to pockets and whatever else works (I am not above making a bigger on the inside cleavage joke).

In conclusion: she avoids the corset eras.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Unf unf.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
She has THE SEXIEST VOICE EVER OH MY GOD. Obviously, this question is best answered by links!
Versus the Lie Detector.
She is clearly with UNIT, not SG-1, idk what you’re talking about.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any Memento Mori clips because that one is, in my opinion, actually an Eleven episode in SG-1 disguise. But, to make up for it: she sings, too. (It works, I promise, if you’ll just give it a minute or two to load.)

2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate?
…Do you really think the Doctor hesitates, ever? (Basically: see above.)

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
A few verbal tics, probably, which are present if I write them in. And her accent is Australian, because she’s made of sexy.

4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?
SHE CHEATS, because she has the TARDIS, and that translates for her. Gallifreyan is her natural tongue, and I imagine she knows English for real, and probably a handful of other languages, though some of them only in bits and pieces, maybe? IT’S DIFFICULT TO SORT.

5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Mmmm, she could, if the situation called for it or if it just amused her, but… not generally, no.

6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words?
She is the best impromptu speaker EVER.

7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
If you drugged and/or gagged her, she might, MIGHT, shut up. And even then there’s no guarantee.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart?
Both! The Doctor’s established as being v. v. intelligent to begin with, and then add on sixteen hundred-odd years of experience.

2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate?
…Do you even watch the show.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
All, and neither? She’s very… anachronistic. But she takes more intuitive leaps than logical, I suppose, and a bit idealistic. A lot idealistic. But that doesn’t mean she can’t use logic or be practical on occasion, so!

4. What kind of education has the character had?
Prydonian. :|
Of course, that wasn’t enough, so then she wandered off to see what the universe could teach her. And that turned out to be a lot, some of which she would have been happier not knowing.

5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about?
EVERYTHING! But, more specifically, she specializes in alien invasions and other strange things. Also? Strawberry-banana smoothies and jelly babies, perhaps even at the same time. Delicious.

6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert extrovert extrovert. And did I mention extrovert?

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
…I’ve mentioned manic before, right?

Eleven is… more on an even keel than Ten or NIne was, which isn’t really saying much. I think, in some ways, the tendency towards emotional whiplash is a post-Time War reaction, since both Nine and Ten had it, really. Basically, the Doctors are just flying so fast to put distance between them and the Time War, and throwing themselves into the present so whole-heartedly that there’s not room for anything between OMG EXCITEMENT FOREVER!!! and you die now. It’s a lot easier to not dwell, that way.

Also, emotional whiplash sometimes confuses people and that’s always fun.

8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
SO ENTHUSIASTIC!!!

9. Is she more likely to act, or to react?
Like Emma Peel, she is a Woman of Action.

10. Which is her default: fight or flight?
That… depends on the situation. The Doctor’s default reaction to lots of things is ‘run’, but standing and fighting is also a Doctor thing to do.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
All of the above! In addition, Eleven displays a slightly twisted sense of humour in which she lightly makes fun of people, because she’s a meaniehead. Also it’s fun.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them?
…Probably diagnosable, sure; actually diagnosed, less so; dealing, not so much with the.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person?
All of it. :|

14. What does she fear?
FEAR ITSELF!

Um, failure is a biggie. People dying on her watch. Making mistakes and not being around to realize it – she’s unfortunately aware that she’s coming to the end of her life, which is part of the less mercy thing. She just can’t always afford to give out second chances, because if they fuck it up, she won’t necessarily be able to come back and fix things.
Also, those boots that require little hooks to do all the buttons.

15. What are her hopes or aspirations?
Someday, she wishes to be the Candy Corn Queen. (…idek.)

16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her?
There are a lot of things, spanning over the entirety of her lifespan. However?
Ask her how she regenerated sometime. I dare you.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents.
Her mother was a human and her father smelt of elderberries.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
She has many Loom brothers and sisters, and they flo- wait. No. That’s Charlotte’s Web.
Truth is, we don’t know if the Doctor had any proper siblings, but they’re pretty much all dead now, so!

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand?
Close to: Susan.
Can’t stand: everyone else.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them?
She loves EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HER COMPANIONS. Except for Adam.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Once upon a time, a boy called Theta Sigma and another boy called Koschei met. How they met is disagreed on, but frankly inconsequential: they met, they became friends. And then they weren’t anymore, at least in the traditional sense.

But I bet the sex was fantastic.

6. Does she have other close friends?
See: all companions ever. Except Adam. And a few others.

7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people?
There is an extremely vigorous programme for becoming the Doctor’s friend, and she filters out the unsuitables in the following way:
1. She asks them if they try to destroy things/planets/the universe, regularly. (note: if the answer is ‘yes’, then see ‘best enemies application’.)
2. She asks them if they want to travel the universe (note: if the answer is ‘yes’, then see ‘companions application’; if the answer is ‘no’, then see ‘biffles in a fixed timeline application’.)

8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends?
Friends, hands down – except maybe for Susan. Her family is not so much with the coolness, as seen earlier.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once?
That’s… actually more difficult than it seems. Obviously, there was Susan’s mum, and presumably there was a marriage involved there. And so many years of traveling probably ended up in some lulz accidental marriages. But overall, she’s in a deep and long-term relationship with her TARDIS, so. Sorry, potential marriage-types.

10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
She cheats on the TARDIS with the Master. And Jamie. And sometimes Fitz.

11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest?
The universe was her first crush; lately, I think she’s crushing on Emma Peel. This is why you don’t let her marathon The Avengers in one night. (It was an exceptionally long night.)

12. What does she look for in a romantic partner?
In general, she doesn’t LOOK for a romantic partner, so. Next?

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any?
Oh Susan. See also under: dead, more than likely.

14. Does she have any rivals or enemies?
EVERYBODY IN THE BLOODY UNIVERSE!!!
…Er. Yes. That.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale?
She’s… somewhere off the Kinsey scale, laughing at how ridiculous it is.

16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her?
Well, maybe, sometime. That’s the bit with the thing that goes in the bit, and silly faces, right?

17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
I think her bed is currently covered in the pieces that make up her television remote control. Does that count?

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type?
Crossed Computers.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life?
Primarily, I think the Time Lords worshipped themselves, and intelligence. They were very fond of their own advancements and sitting around in silly robes. But, they also worshipped certain anthropomorphized figures, like Time and Death and etc. Mostly, the Doctor is lapsed on that, because she’s wandered out into the universe and it’s all kinds of brilliant and there’s a lot of belief systems that are based in fact and fiction, and also she never was big on that anyway.

Mostly, she believes in Life. It’s the only thing that has yet to let her down.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
One of my favourite theories about Theta Sigma is that Koschei didn’t so much get evil as Theta grew a conscience. I have trouble playing it in, but in principle: yes, as the Doctor got older he developed a more solid code of ethics, and kindliness and compassion and the ability to lie about her TARDIS being broken as opposed to sabotaging it herself.
But she breaks it, more so recently. If she’s angry enough, or if she’s convinced that what she’s dealing with doesn’t deserve mercy. And then she lies about it (see, Ten: “I never would.”). In her head, it’s different, which means she has the fine makings of a psychopath. But at the same time, she forces herself to be accountable, in a way, to herself and her companions, as a way of checking herself.

Tl;dr: yes, but it’s bendy.

4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Tolerant, indifferent, and occasionally amused.

5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them?
She’s not fond of Facts. It’s a Time Lord thing. Sorry, Jack.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
….Money?

2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her?
She’s gone from Runaway to Exile to President to Runaway Again and in general, she’s fine with all that. Except for the President bit. Renegading is fun!

3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?
The TARDIS is her OTP.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?
Trinkets. And clothes, sometimes.

5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?
She does anything she wants, which mostly consists of saving things/people, so. She loves it.

6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time?
See above.

7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
I… don’t think the Doctor pays much attention to food, honestly. So eating when she doesn’t have a companion around is irregular, and probably even with, because… I imagine it’s less with the necessary.

Associations
Which of the following do you associate with the character, or which is her favorite:

1. Color? Blue.
2. Smell? Strawberries.
3. Time of day? Afternoon.
4. Season? Autumn.
5. Book? …All of the Discworld series :D?
6. Music? “Quiet, Please, There’s a Lady on Stage”.
7. Place? Earth.
8. Substance? Crystal.
9. Plant? Dandelion.
10. Animal? Metal dog.
